The call of a Christian is to 'go and sin no more', but the truth is that we all fall short of that goal. What an incredible gift it is, then, that we have the hope of Jesus Christ, who became sin on our behalf so that through Him we could be made righteous. He is our advocate who sets us free from the chains of sin, and gives us the opportunity to grow in our relationship with Him each new day.
Can you see where you're going, or do you feel like you're stumbling around in the darkness? God is light, and through the saving power of Jesus Christ, we can walk in that light. We may stumble along the way, but if we confess our sin, God will cleanse us from unrighteousness as we turn back toward the light. Are you walking in the light?
What is truth? Everyone wants to share what they think is true, but where do you go to find out what’s true? As we begin our study in the letters of John, we start with the foundation of who Jesus is and how, through him, we can have true fellowship with God.
Pastor Bob Wade lays out a vision for the year ahead at Highlands Church: a renewed commitment to teaching through the Bible, connecting people in discipleship relationships, and equipping people to have meaningful conversations about their faith. In all things, we will strive to show kindness by serving those around us through the power of God's love.
As we conclude our study of Ephesians, the focus shifts to one of the greatest resources we have as followers of Jesus: prayer. Constant communication with God needs to be a vital part of our lives - bringing Him our thanksgiving, desires, hopes, fears, and requests for others. Is prayer a part of your daily life?
How do you fight a spiritual battle? God has equipped us with everything we need to stand firm in the face of attacks from the evil one, but those tools will only be effective if we take them up. Are you prepared to use the full armor of God?
Whether we recognize it or not, there are spiritual battles going on all around us. As Paul starts his final thoughts in Ephesians, he encourages us as Christians to use the 'Armor of God' we've been given to stand firm in the fight. Through God's strength the war has already been won.
Do you see your job as a grind? A way to get ahead? A path to wealth and success? We spend a full one-third of our lives at work. No matter what your job is, Ephesians 6:5-9 encourages us to see our work as a daily opportunity to give glory to God, working for Him in the mission to spread the gospel.
In a special Independence Day message, we discuss our citizenship - both as citizens of Heaven and citizens of our country. The Bible calls us to see our nation as a mission field - a land and a people that we pray for and serve in an effort to spread the Gospel and share God's love.
