"We serve a great God! 3 John looks at three characters within the church body. Which character do we most resemble within our service at Highlands? Do you walk in truth? Or do you find it difficult to submit to the authorities God has placed in your life? Are you an aspiring leader, ready to disciple others toward Christ? Do you rejoice over knowing that your children are walking in the truth? Enjoy this message in light of knowing truth." -Jeff
The book of 2 John focuses on protecting our fellowship from those who teach falsehood. John's desire is to keep the body of believers united in Christ through truth, love and obedience to the commanded purpose of God for our lives.
Our spiritual life shouldn't be complicated - just listen, believe, submit, obey, and depend. This is a great formula for making disciples! - Mark
Our lives can fill up with so many things, especially at Christmas. It’s hard to make room for anything else. But God’s gift of a Savior is for our whole heart and our whole life - the question is, is there room in your heart for Jesus to change your life for His glory?
There are countless opinions of who people think Jesus is - some are false, and some are true. What does the Bible say about His identity, and more importantly, who do you say He is?
"Lots of people say they believe. The question is, do they mean the same thing the Apostle John meant by believing? Belief to John leads to love for God, love for other people, and ultimately a desire to follow His commands. That means that love for God and others coupled with an obedient life become the birthmarks of a believer." -Bob
If you claim to love God, then you will love what God loves. What does He love? He loves people. So get out there this week and make known to the world the love you have been shown in Jesus!
You, however, are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if in fact the Spirit of God dwells in you. Anyone who does not have the Spirit of Christ does not belong to him.
1 John 4:1-6 is John’s challenge to be discerning. It’s here that John calls on us to test every teaching with a simple test: do they believe Jesus came (from the father) in the flesh. John adds to it an encouragement; that “He who is in you, is greater than he who is in the world”. What an amazing truth, that Jesus is both personal, (in us) and powerful.
