The resurrection of Jesus means victory over death, but it also means that we as his followers are empowered to live lives of purpose. As Jesus gives final instructions to his disciples, he gives us all a new mission: to be his witnesses to a lost and broken world and share the good news of the gospel everywhere we go. If you know Jesus, are you ready to live for him?

The resurrection of Jesus from the dead is the most significant moment in history. His resurrection fulfilled thousands of years of prophecy about the messiah, sealed the new covenant between God and man, ushered in the beginning of the church, and signaled that death itself was defeated. Most importantly, the resurrection of Jesus means that we can also be raised to a new, restored life - both spiritually and one day physically - when we put our faith and trust in Him.

Jesus’ death on the cross finished the work of salvation once and for all. This monumental moment - when Jesus paid the price for our sin - forever changed our relationship with our creator God. Jesus’ sacrifice satisfied the penalty due for our sin and gives the opportunity for all who believe in Him to enter into a restored relationship with God for all eternity! Instead of standing condemned by our sin and brokenness, we’re made righteous through Jesus Christ. Will you receive that gift by placing your faith and trust in Jesus?

Jesus died on a cross as a sacrifice to save us from our sin - a monumental turning point in all of human history. As recipients of this amazing gift of grace, Jesus calls us to follow his example: to put others before ourselves, serving them and telling everyone about our Savior and Lord who offers the gift of salvation to all who will believe.

Jesus on Trial

As Jesus stood accused before Pilate, an incredible scene played out: Jesus was found to be innocent, and yet because of the demands of the crowd, a convicted criminal named Barabbas walked free while Jesus was sent away to be killed. Because of his great love for us, Jesus took our place and stood accused when in reality it’s we who are guilty of sin. How will you express your thanks for this amazing gift of grace?

Just before his crucifixion, Jesus modeled for us what it looks like to pray in our moments of greatest distress. When we're face to face with the hardest moments of life, we can cry out to God who loves us so much that He sent His Son to be the sacrifice for our redemption - a promise of an eternal life free from the suffering we often endure in the here and now. And in those moments, we can pray God's will be done, knowing He'll be with us every step of the way.

A Royal Assignment

As followers of Jesus, we inherit greatness - we’re called children of God in His Kingdom. But where the world would have us use status for personal gain, Jesus tells us that true greatness is found in serving others. The call to follow Jesus is a call to put our own self-interest aside and love and serve the people God puts in our path each day.

The Lord’s Supper

The meal Jesus shared with his disciples before going to the cross established a new covenant, pointing to God’s fulfillment of His promise of redemption for His people. With broken bread and poured out wine as symbols of Jesus’ sacrifice, the communion meal is the ultimate reminder of God’s love for us and His grace. Our instruction is to re-enact it on a regular basis so that we never forget the significance of the moment Jesus paid for our sins to redeem mankind and restore our relationship with God for eternity.

Jesus was clear about his plans for the future: one day he will return in glory to rule and reign forever. While it’s easy to focus on the chaos in the world that is to come, Jesus encourages us instead to keep our focus on him. He reminds us to always be ready for that moment - to be alert and prayerful, looking with anticipation toward his return. As the world experiences more and more chaos, our steadfast faith and trust can be a powerful witness to the people around us. Are you ready?
