Shine Theatre Pit Ensemble

Shine Theatre Company is a youth-focused community theatre ministry of Highlands Church, and is seeking live pit ensemble musicians for its upcoming production of Tarzan: The Stage Musical based on the Disney film.

Tarzan: The Stage Musical features music by Phil Collins and several iconic songs including You'll Be In My Heart, Strangers Like Me and Two Worlds. The stage musical greatly expands the variety of songs based on the original Disney animated feature. Expect dynamic key changes, dramatic underscore, and tons of energy!

Shine is seeking community musicians (amateurs, students or professionals) playing at an advanced level for its live pit ensemble experience. Our professional production staff will provide players with an amazing pit experience including in-ear monitors, modern equipment and instrument support.

Instrument positions available include:

  • Keyboards* (three players)
  • Guitar (1 player doubling on electric and acoustic)
  • Bass Guitar
  • Drum Set (all equipment provided on-site)
  • Percussion (featuring extensive hand percussion - all instruments will be provided)
  • Reed 1 (Flute, Clarinet & Tenor Sax doubler preferred, but Tenor Sax can also be a separate player)
  • Reed 2 (1 player doubling Oboe & English Horn preferred, but part can also be Oboe only)
  • Trumpet
  • Trombone
  • French Horn

*Keyboard parts feature many different sound patches, but all will be pre-programmed and configured for players ahead of time. All keyboard equipment will be provided.

Schedule
  • Performances: April 24-26, and May 1-3
  • Pit Ensemble Rehearsals: select Thursday evening or Saturday morning days in late March or early April (depending on player availability). No rehearsals during Easter week. Planned ensemble rehearsals include one group read-through session and two additional rehearsals before tech week.
  • Pit Ensemble Tech Rehearsal: April 19 or 20 (TBD)
  • Dress Rehearsals with full cast: April 22 & 23 (evenings)
  • All rehearsals held at Highlands Church in North Scottsdale (9050 E Pinnacle Peak Rd)
