After Life: Assurance

Jay Branson | July 29 & August 1, 2021
1. Acceptance of the reality: There is one way to eternal life with God.

Matthew 7:13-14 - “Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it."

John 14:6 -Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

Steven J. Lawson - "There is only one way of salvation. It is by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone. There is not one way to be saved in the Old Testament and a different way to be saved in the New Testament. That would be two different gospels. There wasn’t one way for the Jew to be saved, and now a different way for the gentile to be saved. That would be two roads to heaven. There’s only one road to heaven. Jesus said: “I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me” (John 14:6)."

Romans 4:3 - "For what does the Scripture say? “Abraham believed in God, and it was counted to him as righteousness.”

2. Acceptance of the gift: Salvation by means of Jesus Christ.

Romans 6:23For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Ephesians 2:8-9 - For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.

Romans 3:10-12 - “None is righteous, no, not one no one understands; no one seeks for God. All have turned aside; together they have become worthless; no one does good, not even one.”

2 Corinthians 5:17 - Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.

3. Assurance of Salvation: God will never let us go.

John 10:28-29 - I give them eternal life, and they will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of my hand. My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all, and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father's hand.

Romans 8:38-39 For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.
